Yet, the fantasy proceeded, when it was uncovered that Fiona herself transformed into a beast into the evening, an appearance she kept after she and Shrek fell head over heels.
Throughout the long term, the story was extended in followup films: 2004's Shrek 2, 2004 Shrek the Third and the last section in the establishment, 2010's Shrek Everlastingly Later.
